Dry Ice

Dry Ice is a solid form of carbon dioxide. It is used primarily as a cooling agent. Its advantages include lower temperature than that of water ice and not leaving any residue (other than incidental frost from moisture in the atmosphere). It is useful for preserving frozen foods where mechanical cooling is unavailable. Below, you can find different forms and some details

Solid Block

  • Dry Ice
  • Variety of Sizes
  • Used for bigger & longer shipment
  • Big

A Dry ice block weighs 50 lbs with dimensions of 10″x10″x12″. These blocks can be cut to obtain different sizes and weights, the most commonly used are slices of 10″x10″x2″ (10 lbs) or 10″x5″x2″ (5lbs). Dry ice blocks last longer than any other form of dry ice due to the fact that they are made with higher compression rates, and have less area of temperature transferring than pellets. Blocks are very useful for longer transit time shipments. Dry Ice Blocks disadvantage is that they are heavier and more difficult to accommodate in small packages.

Pellets

  • Dry Ice Pellets
  • Easier to handle
  • Pharmaceuticals Uses
  • Good for Party and Events

Pellet is dry ice with a cylindrical shape of approximately 3/4″ diameter and 1″- 2″ length. This particular dry ice shape is very versatile, can be used in small packages, and it is very easy to handle. Pellets are most commonly used for sample shipping, drinks preparation, pharmaceuticals, classroom experiments, etc.

Blasting

  • Dry Ice Blasting
  • Use for blasting cleaning
  • No oxidation or residues
  • Minimum Order of 500 lb
  • Needs Qualified Personal

Commonly known as dry ice rice this shape has a very particular use: blasting dry ice machines. Blasting dry ice machines are basically a pressure washer that uses dry ice instead of water. But not get confused blasting machines are more expensive and more complicated to use than a common pressure washer. Blasting dry ice is a high compressed dry ice with the shape of a common rice grain, it is more expensive to produce than other forms of dry ice and can only be ordered in minimum quantities of 500 lbs or more which that take 2-3 days to be produced.

Gel Packs

  • Gel Pack
  • 48 Hours Cold
  • Good for Meats
  • Pharmaceuticals Uses

Are plastic packages of water with an additive that increases viscosity, when frozen they are able to stay within a temperature range of 2 Celsius to 8 Celsius for periods of 48 hrs. Gel packs are regularly deployed for foods and pharmaceuticals that are required to stay at a controlled temperature. Gel packs are made in different sizes and weights, the most commonly used are 8 oz, 12 oz, 16 oz, and 48 oz. The most popular gel pack used is 16 oz.
